In my attempt to offer unsolicited advice to Cholo who, up to now, has not decided where he's taking the family for his triple celebration tomorrow (for graduating college, passing the NCLEX and celebrating his 23rd birthday) I decided to make a detour from my usual route home to see about the Flat Top Grill in Oak Park on Lake Street. Someone whom I used to work with live in this village and he highly recommends it. But nearly as soon as I make it to the front I receive a text message from Mr. Celebrant saying that he's finally made up his mind, and that the winner is the Cheesecake Factory at the Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg. I'm so excited!!! Maybe we'll do FTG next time.

The Oak Park (Detour) Experience
I didn't want my detour to end in vain so I decided to make a quick pass along Chicago Avenue and check out one of my favorite places in the world, the Frank Lloyd Wright (my favorite architect too, that's for sure!) Home and Studio. I've been wanting to volunteer here forever since it's only 2 miles away from home but... I don't know what my excuse is.
Even with the scant lighting limited to the middle part where the
stork capitals are, the place looked majestic (note that it's almost 10pm by now). Only problem is I didn't bring my camera (I should really get into the habit of bringing one, if I were to take this blogging seriously). I wasn't about to use that as an excuse so I bring out my camera phone and take a snap. And another. The result is the photo on the left, in case you were wondering what the black box is all about. Haha. Pathetic! But the point is I was there, enjoying this piece of art many regard as one of America's must-see places before you die. So if you ever make it there before you die, please ask one of the volunteers for Kristine. You never know, I could be giving you the tours by then. Or ringing up your souvenir, postcard and fridge door magnet purchase for you, you little tourist, you!
